The hashtag is in the title for a reason – so that you, or I, won’t forget it.
Yesterday evening Sara and I attended the first (well, the first in 3 years) WordPress users group in Mobile, AL.
Put together by David Sullivan (@SullivanDavid), and held in the University of South Alabama Library, it was a great opportunity to reach out and meet folks with an active interest in WordPress (both from a user and developer perspective) in the Gulf Coast area.
6 people showed up last night to share their experience and learn and David did a presentation on “WP custom post types”. The numbers were a little low, mostly because people just didn’t know about it, but from small seeds great things grow.
We’re going to be meeting the second Thursday of every month (next meeting is the 13th of October 2011), at USA for now, and we’d like you if you’re in the Gulf Coast area, or even just passing through, to drop by and share your WordPress experiences with us.
We’re going to try to have a little something for everybody at the meetings.
Whether you’re already hacking the crap out WordPress, just starting out or simply WP curious, we’re sure that there will always be someone there who is willing to help out, teach, share and learn from you.
If you’re interested in dropping along, look out for the #GCWP hashtag on Twitter and follow David, Sara or myself as we’ll be tweeting about events in advance.
Hope to see you there.
